    • Springfield Cardinals honor Fort Leonard Wood military

    • The Springfield Cardinals saw its largest crowd of the season on Saturday night at Hammons Field for the Military Appreciation Night, sponsored by Mid-Missouri Credit Union. More than 7,400 fans attended the game, according to the Springfield Cardinals website. The 5-4 Cardinal loss to the Arkansas Travelers didn't stop fans from celebrating and thanking the military Saturday evening. Col. Bjarne Iverson MSCoE and FLW chief of staff threw out a ceremonial first pitch along with Staff Sgt. Jonathan James, MSCoE and FLW Drill Sergeant of the Year, and Sgt. 1st Class Jeremy Washington, MSCoE and FLW AIT Platoon Sergeant of the Year. The Springfield Cardinals wore special military camouflage uniforms for the event. Col. Bjarne Iverson also led more than 40 young adults from the Springfield area in the military oath on the field before the game.
