Updated flood insurance rate maps will mean some St. Robert residents may qualify for national flood insurance.

City Administrator Alan Clark said before the new maps, a large portion of the city, including its center, was never included.

“We now have six maps that cover the entire city,”?he said. “Now we’ve got some very good and accurate maps.”

Effective May 3, some parts of Hickory Valley and Sawmill Holler will be included in flood areas.

Affected homeowners, Clark said, will need to check with their lending institutions to determine if they need a flood insurance policy.

“I recommend that all homeowners or businesses, if they have any questions of where they’re at, I encourage them to come to the city and check the maps,” Clark said.
