Waynesville baseball falls to Camdenton, Harrisonville in wood bat tourney
The Waynesville High School baseball team dropped two stright games Friday in the Central Bank Wood Bat Tournament, held in Camdenton.
The host Lakers beat Waynesville 9-5 in the first early afternoon game while the Harrisonville Wildcats, ranked No. 2 in Class 3, won 16-1 in the five-inning second game.
The Wildcats scored six runs on five walks in the first inning and scored in every inning after that.
Waynesville’s lone run came in the third inning.
The Tigers (1-13) gave up 10 free passes to the Wildcats.
Waynesville takes on Troy Buchanan in the third pool play game this afternoon at 12:30 p.m.
In the other two games in Friday’s tournament, Troy won both of its games, defeating Camdenton and beating Harrisonville 1-0.
Harrisonville plays Camdenton at 10 a.m. today in its final pool play game.
In the Lebanon pool of the tournament today, the host Yellowjackets will play Ladue Horton Watkins at 10 a.m. and Licking will take on Timberland at 12:30 p.m.
The championship and third place games will be played later tonight at Lebanon’s Oley Scott Field, while the fifth and seventh place games will be played at Camdenton City Park.
