A Laquey woman sustained serious injuries in a three-car accident about 13 miles east of Lebanon on Interstate 44 around 4:27 p.m. Thursday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports a passerby stopped to assist with an accident in the left lane of westbound I-44, when a 1988 Plymouth, driven by Carol?S. Luzinski, 54, of Laquey, struck the stopped vehicle. Luzinski then hit a 2006 freightliner driven by Eric J.?Greene, 46, of St. Louis, before her vehicle overturned.

She has been charged with 1) Driving while intoxicated; 2) Careless and imprudent driving with an accident.

Luzinski, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident, was transported to St. John’s Hospital, Lebanon.

Her vehicle and the bystander’s vehicle were totaled and removed by Rothmund’s Towing and Jack’s Towing, respectively. The freightliner did not have any damage and was driven from the scene.
