96, of Puyallup

Helen L. Stephens, 96, of Puyallup, Wash., passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 2010. She had been a resident of Waynesville for 46 years.
She was born in Cuyuna, Minn., to Ellis and Emma Ravander (immigrants from Sweden) on May 19, 1914.
Helen married Sanford Stephens in Aitkin, Minn., in August of 1936.
She came to Fort Leonard Wood in October 1955 with her husband and five children.
Her husband retired after 25 years of military service and they retired in Waynesville.
She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
She moved to Washington state to live with her daughter and son-in-law in 2001.
She is survived by her children and in-laws: Sanford and Peggy Stephens of Lowell, Mass., Patricia Elmer of Puyallup, Wash., Neil Stephens of Kansas City,  Alan Stephens of Lowell, Mass., and Jane and Bill Briggs  of Wautoma, Wis.; 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She will be missed by all.
Interment will be at the VFW Cemetery in St. Robert in June 2011.
