Even though many campaigns for seats in the August elections have begun, actual filing for those offices doesn't begin until Feb. 28.
Many offices in Pulaski County will be open this election season including sheriff, which is currently held by Pulaski County Sheriff J.B. King. King has already announced his intentions to retire and will not be seeking re-election, opening the door for several people to declare candidacy.
Bill Farnham's term as Eastern District Commissioner will be up and that seat will be open for contest along with Rick Zweerink's Western District Commissioner seat.
Pulaski County residents will be voting on the County Assessor, an office that is currently held by Roger Harrison.
Additionally, the offices of Public Administrator held by Loretta Rouse, County Coroner held by Mikel Hartness, County Surveyor John Mackey, 25th Circuit Judge Division 1 held by Tracy L. Storie and Township or Ward Committee men and women.
The last date to file for the elections that will be held on Aug. 7 is March 27. The last day residents can register to vote in that election is July 11.
