  • The Meramec Regional Planning Commission, in cooperation with the Phelps County PHA Family Self-Sufficiency Program, will host two free workshops to discuss budgeting and savings and strategies for investing.
Workshops are planned from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Feb. 28, 2012 in the laundry/rec room of Vienna Homes, Inc., 1601 Vienna-Rolla Road, Vienna, Mo. and from 1 to 2 p.m. Feb. 28, 2012 in the community room of Dixon Manor, 103 W. Chestnut, Dixon, Mo.
The workshops are offered at no cost, and registration is not required. Dawn Harmon, family self-sufficiency coordinator, of the Phelps County PHA will be the workshop presenter.
Both Vienna Homes and the Dixon Manor received grants in the past from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines to renovate the senior citizen housing apartments. As a part of those grants, the Phelps County PHA and MRPC agreed to provide annual community outreach opportunities to residents on issues related to homeownership, renting and money management.
The training classes are open to any and are a part of the MRPC and PHA’s efforts to help renters who want to be first-time buyers or families who are first-time homebuyers better prepare for homeownership and make them aware of the resources available to assist with homeownership.
Persons needing more information may call (573) 265-2993 or 265-4200.
