Students at Crocker Elementary enjoyed a family reading night on March 9th. The evening included story time, games, and a campout in the gym.
Parents joined their children for snacks and reading time by the light of glow sticks and flashlights. Other highlights included Sight Word Bingo, a scavenger hunt, and a pajama dress code. Reading Specialist Beverly Morris hopes that events such as the one on the 9th will encourage families to make reading fun at home and support literacy among the students.
The Go Wild for Books family reading night was sponsored by the Crocker Elementary School, and included donations from The Flower Bin of Crocker, St. Robert Wal-mart, and Scholastics. The School would like to extend a special thank you to all who donated their time to make this event possible. Staff is eager to plan similar events for the coming year, as Sarah Pickens, Preschool Educator, indicated.
The night was a great success and emphasizes the importance of collaboration between parents and teachers. The school would like to invite the community to the spring Bye-One-Get-One Free Book Fair May 7th-14tth for another great opportunity to support the students and school.
