  • On June 28, 2012, at approximately 4:10 pm a Pulaski County deputy was sent to 22830 Hardy Lane near St. Robert to investigate the theft of a boat. The deputy was able to find out that a male suspect driving a white pickup truck had been seen by a witness loading the boat in the bed of the truck.  The deputy was able to determine that the same white truck had been parked at another home in the neighborhood prior to the theft. The deputy talked to the people at that residence and they identified the owner of the suspect vehicle.

A short time later at 5:17pm a second Pulaski County deputy found the vehicle parked at the address of 17655 Highway T in Swedeborg.  The vehicle owner was taken into custody and questioned. He told the deputy he had taken the boat to a recycling center and received cash for the boat.

The suspect was place on a 24-hour hold while a statement of probable cause was sent to the Pulaski County Prosecutor requesting charges for this incident. On June 29, 2012, the prosecutor filed one count of theft/stealing over $500 but less than $25,000, a class C felony, on James Anthony Hayes, age 30, of 22550 Beach Road, Crocker, Missouri. The bond on Hayes was set at $5,000 and he remains in the Pulaski County Jail pending the posting of bond.
