  •   Ruth Erike Landin was born April 26, 1922, in Poland (Communist Russia) where she grew up and attended school.  As a young girl, Ruth met a United States soldier in Germany.  His name was Louis Ochoa Landin.  They were united in marriage on April 28, 1961.  They shared many wonderful years of marriage together and were blessed with one daughter, Peggy.  On July 14, 1964, Ruth came to the United States and then obtained her citizenship on November 22, 1964.   Due to Louis being the military, he was stationed in several different places.  Each time Ruth and the family moved with him and they were able to see different places of the country. She became very involved in the community and enjoyed volunteering with the Harry Herron DAV.  She also helped with the 4-H Saddle Club when Peggy was a young girl and very involved in showing horses.   In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting.  She made beautiful pieces for family and friends.  She also liked to do crossword puzzles and she could play a mean game of Yahtzee.  She loved her dogs, Brutus, King, Ringo and recently Baby Girl.   Ruth passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 in her son-in-law’s home having attained the age of 90 years, 1 month and 30 days.  She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her.  Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her son-in-law: Oscar Gonzales (Nora) of Waynesville, MO; five grandchildren: Art Gonzales (Kresta Stewart) of Waynesville, MO, Tony Gonzales (Melissa Shelby-Zike) of St. Robert, MO, Melissa Gomez (John Brown) of St. Robert, MO, Monica Gomez of Hayden, AZ and Tina Gomez (Dietrich Haggard) of Waynesville, MO; thirteen great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Louis and her daughter: Peggy Gonzales.   Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2012, in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Rod Farthing officiating.  Serving as escorts were Art Gonzales, Tony Gonzales, Dietrich Haggard, John Brown Jr., Jeremiah Roads and Turi Gonzales.  Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.   Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ruth Landin and may be left at the funeral home.   Online condolences can be sent at   www.memorialchapelsandcrematory.com.
