The Crocker High School girls' softball team began the 2012 season about where they stopped last season, scoring a lot of runs and having great pitching as they beat St. James 15-0 in three innings.
“I was surprised that we hit the ball as well as we did, since it was our first game,” said Crocker head coach Jim Shockley. “Right now it is feeling pretty good but tomorrow is another day.”
Senior Hannah Adams got the win for Crocker going the full three innings, giving up just one hit, while striking out seven in the win.
Crocker would score six runs in the first inning, add another eight runs in the second inning and with nobody out and the bases loaded score the final run on a wild pitch in the third inning for the win.
Senior Jeanna Mendez and senior Heather Bomar both had three RBI and Mendez scored twice.
Crocker's next game is Friday, August 24 and they will be hosting Waynesville, a game that Shockley is looking forward to.
“I know they will be much more improved then they were last year,” said Shockley. “They have kids playing a lot more now then they have in the past and their coach is doing a heckuva job with them. It will be a tough game and I am looking forward to it.”
After Friday's game Crocker will start the Frisco League Tournament on Saturday and face 8th seeded Plato at 10:00 a.m.
