The Waynesville High School softball team dropped their opening game of the season to Crocker on Friday night 10-0.
“We struggled a little bit on defense which I feel is a strong point for us this year,” said head coach Kelly Jackson. “We had a hard time catching up with Crocker's pitcher and I believe that we had a few first game jitters and it showed.”
Diamond Thomas would get the start for Waynesville and go four innings, giving up 10 runs, seven earned, and 11 hits, while striking out three and walking two.
Hannah Adams would once again prove to be to strong, as she would follow up her great performance against Newburg by one hitting Waynesville and striking out eight.
For Crocker, Meagan Wall would go 3-3 with three runs scored, Bree Peterson would go 2-3 with two runs scored, Heather Bomar would go 3-3 with two runs batted in and Adams would go 1-2 with three runs batted in.
Jessica Kane would get the only hit for Waynesville. The Tigers played against Springfield Hillcrest on Monday night and will return home for their first home game on August 30 against West Plains.
Crocker is currently taking part in the Frisco League Tournament through Wednesday.
