  • It took a few innings for the Dixon High School baseball team to find their stride but when they did the Bulldogs lit up Tuscumbia for 11 runs and beat them 11-2.
This was another nice win for our team on back to back nights,” said head coach Alex Shelton. “I thought that after a somewhat slow start, we found our stride and did a good job of executing some things that added to the pressure put on Tuscumbia.”
Senior pitcher Solomon Weider pitched another great game as he held Tuscumbia to just two runs (zero earned), and two hits, while striking out 10 and only walking two. Weider would pitch all seven innings for the Bulldogs and get the win. He would also hit a home run and drive in three runs on the night.
“Solomon (Weider) was excellent on the mound for us, as he fanned 10 and walked just two, for a complete game, two-hitter,” said Shelton. “Offensively, we got contributions up and down the order and were able to put together some good at bats and capitalize on some Tuscumbia miscues.”
Tuscumbia committed nine errors in the game and combine that with Dixon's 10 hits and it spelled doom for Tuscumbia.
Levi Roach had two RBI, Hunter Barnett had two RBI, and Justin Thompson knocked in a run.
“I feel like we are getting better with each game, which is what we are trying to accomplish this fall season,” said Shelton. “This was a good team win.”
Dixon will next play on September 4, against Steelville.
