  • Waynesville falls to Lebanon

  • Lebanon—The Waynesville football team traveled to Lebanon on Friday night and lost 40-7. Lebanon senior running back Brock West for 211 yards and four touchdowns, all in the first half, against the Tigers. Lebanon sophomore running back Elza Evans added 132 yards and one touchdown for the Jackets. Waynesville forced a turnover on Lebanon's first possession, but a few plays later the Tigers would give it right back. The Yellow Jackets would turn it into a score, to go up 7-0. Lebanon scored two more times in the first quarter, both by West, to lead 19-0 at the end of one quarter. West scored two more touchdowns in the second quarter, giving him seven on the season, to put Lebanon up 33-0 at halftime. Both teams were silent in the third quarter. Waynesville played better defense and forced Lebanon to punt. In the fourth quarter, Lebanon senior quarterback Hayden Bracket scored from 20 yards out to give lebanon a 40-0, which instituted the mercy-rule clock. The mercy clock states that when a team is ahead by 35 points or in the fourth quarter the clock will continue to run and can only be stopped by calling a time out. Waynesville got on the board with 3:14 left in the game when senior running back Warren Womack rushed in from four yards out. Womack rushed for 117 yards, Senior quarterback Alec Tebbe went 4-10 and threw for 41 yards, all to senior Wide Receiver EJ Green. Waynesville turned the ball over six times in the wet conditions and was penalized five times for 45 yards. Waynesville will play its next game on Friday against Springfield Kickapoo at home. Waynesville will also honor all former players, coaches and cheerleaders from the 1970s before the game.
