The Crocker High School softball team defeated Dixon 6-0 on Wednesday night to win their fourth straight Frisco League softball tournament.
“This is the fourth year in a row that we have won this, my senior class hasn't lost yet so thats pretty impressive,” said Crocker head coach Jim Shockley.
Crocker senior pitcher Hannah Adams continued to carry the teamas she held Dixon to just one hit over seven innings and extended her scoreless inning streak to 25 innings with the win.
“She has started off a lot better than I thought she would,” said Shockley. “I figured she would struggle since she didn't get to play as much this summer, but she is playing well and I can't complain about that. I can't ask for much more.”
Both teams struggled at the plate as both Adams and Dixon junior pitcher Maci Marshall kept the scoreboard at zeros for the first three innings of the game.
Crocker finally broke the 0-0 tie in the bottom of the fourth inning when senior catcher Heather Bomar singled to center, driving in senior shortstop Briana Peterson,to give Crocker a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Lions scored three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, capped by a two-run home run from Bomar to give Crocker a 4-0 lead after five innings of play.
“It was a good game, it took us until our second time around to start hitting,” said Shockley. “Maci threw pretty well until we made the adjustments and put some hits together and scored some runs.”
Crocker would add two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the 6-0 lead and then Adams just shut the door on Dixon in the top of the seventh to give Crocker the victory and the title.
Crocker is now 5-0 this season and has won every game by a shut out, outscoring their opponents 59-0.
Crocker will not play again until Sept. 6, when they travel back to Stoutland and Dixon will next play on Sept. 4 at Plato.
