After beating a very good Dixon team earlier in the season, the Iberia High School baseball team had a minor set back when they lost to Stoutland 9-4 on Tuesday night but the Rangers rebounded to beat Crocker 7-1 on Thursday night.

"It was good win for us tonight,” said Iberia head coach Tim Vinson. “We were able to get good performances from several guys despite having a few athletes not able to play because of various injuries. Its a good feeling to know we are able to count on guys to step up and fill roles when the need arises.”

Iberia scored seven runs on 11 hits against Crocker, with junior shortstop Tyler Slawson leading the way with two hits and three RBIs. Freshman pitcher Riley Halley got the win, going seven innings, allowing one run and five hits. He struck out nine in the game.

“We got a good outing from Halley on the mound,” said Vinson. “At this point in the fall, we are trying to improve with every game and I think we did that. We have a busy next couple of weeks and it will take a team effort to be successful."

On Tuesday night, Iberia was not so fortunate as Stoutland was able to pound out 11 hits and score nine runs against them.

Senior pitcher Dustin Bloodgood took the loss, going three innings while striking out three. Senior third baseman Isaac Minnick went 2-4, with an RBI and a stolen base. Bloodgood was 2-4 with two runs scored.
