The Missouri Veterans Cemetery was given something very special on Thursday from a very special woman.
Pam Hengen, the mother of fallen soldier Pfc. Matthew England, presented the cemetery with the Honor and Remember flag in her son's named stitched in red letters across the bottom in his honor.
According to the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Fort Leonard Wood director Charles Baxter, the cemetery is now the first Missouri State Veterans Cemetery to receive an Honor and Remember flag.
England was killed in action in Iraq in 2011 when enemy forces attacked his unit with an explosive device. He is from Gainesville, Mo. where he was raised by Hengen and his stepfather. He is a Bronze Star recipient and is buried at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery on post.
Hengen volunteers her time at the cemetery, serving as the president of the Assistance Association.
The flag will be displayed on a staff in at the main office of the cemetery with a small plaque explaining the purpose of the Honor and Remember flag.
