Jury selection began Monday in Rolla in the murder trial of a Waynesville man.
Ryan N. Evans, 29, is charged in the 2006 death of Skyler Barrett. Evans was arrested May 9, 2007 and charged with one count of child abuse resulting in death, and one count of second-degree murder.
The trial is expected to last two weeks. The prosecution is being conducted by the Missouri Attorney General's office. Evans is represented by Waynesville attorney Mark Prugh.
The trial was moved to Phelps County on a change of venue on June 17, 2011.
Evans is currently free on bond. His bond was at first set at $500,000 cash only, but was reduced on June 5, 2007 when the prosecution was not prepared to proceed.
