  • A convincing win over Sullivan was Waynesville's first since finishing atop the weekend's Rolla Varsity Tournament Saturday.
Waynesville won a close 25-19 game Tuesday before dominating Sullivan in the second game, 25-10 to win the match.
"Our goal is to continue playing consistently," Coach Holly Davidson said. "Everything came togteher in the second game and our outside [hitters] executed effectively."
In the victory, senior outside hitters Breonna Copeland and Alexis Olney each tallied 10 kills and junior setter Alyssa Arnold finished with 24 assists.
In practice this week, Davidson's team has worked to "show up in the second game."
Too often the team has started strong to win the first game of most matches, but in the second game the team has fallen behind early.
"Consistency is what I'm looking for," she said. "We have to stay with it on offense and on defense."
While the focal point of Waynesville's attack is outside hitters' play, the team's communication is something Davidson also stresses each practice.
"They'll probably never communicate as much as I'd like them to," Davidson said. "I feel like if [the team] is talking, they're going to be more successful and have better odds to win."
Next on the schedule for the squad is Ozark Conferencc opponent Lebanon before the team will travel to Licking in its first October match.
"We've won seven-in-a-row; we won the Rolla tournament," Davidson said. "Now we're stepping up our competition and are going to have to rise to that and stay consistent."
