  • ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Central Florida and Missouri are looking to establish a long-term identity.
The Knights enter Saturday's game with the better record, wins over Akron and Florida International sandwiching a competitive loss at Ohio State. The game also is big for UCF as it hosts a Southeastern Conference team for the first time.
The Tigers have had a bumpy introduction to the SEC thus far thanks to a pair of lopsided losses to Georgia and at South Carolina last week. Still, coach Gary Pinkel says he remains confident in quarterback James Franklin, despite a subpar performance and lingering shoulder issues.
It makes this week a potential momentum boost for both teams, with Missouri returning to SEC play next week and UCF beginning its Conference USA slate.
