Waynesville resident Marge Scott received the 2012 Lieutenant Governor's Missouri Veterans Service Award from Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder at the Pulaski County Courthouse Tuesday afternoon.
"I never believed I would get it," Scott said of the award. "When they sent me a letter of nomination and recognition, I thought that would be it, since so many other people were nominated. But when I got home Sunday, my husband told me I had eight messages from the lieutenant governor's office."
Kinder presented Scott with a plaque and paid tribute to her 10 years of service as curator of the Pulaski County Museum, her four years of work on behalf of the State Veterans Cemetery Memorial at Fort Leonard Wood, and her volunteer work for the Disabled American Veterans and the VFW.
Scott's nomination, by her friend Betty Atterberry, noted that Scott shakes the hand of every soldier that visits the Pulaski County Museum and personally thanks them for their service.
In addition to Kinder, several relatives, friends and public officials attended the presentation.
