On behalf of the Shop with a Cop program, law enforcement officers from across the county have teamed up to help give underprivledged local children a better Christmas.

Officers from Richland, Crocker, Dixon, Waynesville, St. Robert, Pulaski County Sheriff's Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Fort Leonard Wood Department of Emergency are working together this year for the Pulaski County Shop with a Cop program to help raise money for the program that is 100 percent donation funded.

The officers volunteer to take the children shopping during Christmas, allowing them to buy things for themselves and their family members.

School-aged children are nominated for the program by officers, churches, schools and the Department of Social Services.

The program is not only meant to help children in need, but also to fosters good relationship between law enforcement and children, according to program organizer Gwendolyn Andrewcavage, who has worked as an officer for both Waynesville Police Department and the Sheriff's Department.

The officers who volunteer for this program are accepting donations through First State Bank, via mail and at any local law enforcement office.

To help raise money for the program the officers would like to invite the public to Colton's Steakhouse, Sunday, Dec. 2, where officers will be waiting tables between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.

In addition to the Colton's fundraiser, Electric Crayon is offering a 10 percent discount for every $20 donated to the program, Cenex is selling Sheriff's Stars to hang in their store and Waynesville and St. Robert Police Departments are selling Shop with a Cop t-shirts for $10, with 2X and 3x costing $15.
