  • Dixon's dominant defense downed Crocker in Wednesday night's Frisco Conference challenge.
Out to an early 16-10 first quarter lead, the Lady Bulldogs held Crocker to a combined 11 points in the second and third quarters, and outscored the Lady Lions 19-11.
With a 35-21 fourth quarter lead, Dixon was outscored 10-7 in the final stanza and held on to win, 42-31.
Because of what Dixon coach Butch O'Riley called "exceptional team defense," the Lady Lions were held to a mere four free throw attempts.
On the offensive end, the Lady Bulldogs were able to "use effective ball control on offense to slow down the...Lady Lions," O'Riley said.
Crocker will play at Macks Creek on Monday and Dixon will take on Laquey at home.
Scoring summary: Crocker – Lindsay Medlen, fr., 21 points; Meagan Wall, sr., 5; Jeanna Mendez, sr., 2; Kelsi York, fr., 2; Briana Peterson, sr., 1.
Dixon – (double-figure scorers) Hunter Yoakum, sr., 14 points; Mattie Whitaker, jr., 12; Dakota Purcell, sr., 10.
