  • On Sunday, Jan. 27, Partridge Elementary and East Elementary were each named a 2012-13 Missouri Exemplary Professional Learning Community School during the Powerful Learning Conference at the Lake of the Ozarks. The two Waynesville R-VI Schools are among just 11 schools in the state to be recognized for this achievement.
East Principal Hilary Bales and Partridge Principal Dr. George Lauritson gave presentations about the impact of PLCs in their respective buildings. They praised their teachers, students and parents for embracing the use of objective data to measure and improve student achievement.
Both Partridge and East have implemented outstanding collaborative strategies to promote student learning, earned exceptional scores on the PLC Implementation Rubric and are dedicated to school improvement as evidenced during an on-site review. Additionally, the schools demonstrated upward trends in student achievement over the past 3 to 5 years.
East educates students in kindergarten through second grades and has 977 students; Partridge educates students in kindergarten through fifth grades and has 412 students.
Educators from across the state attended the conference where the schools were recognized and showcased by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
