  • JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Missouri Senate has approved almost $220 million in additional spending for the current fiscal year, which runs through June.
A large portion of the new spending is federal money that various state departments have received through grants.
The Senate approved a $14 million increase to help reimburse school districts for "high needs" children from Missouri lottery revenue.
Funding was not set aside for a supplemental budget when the operating budget was approved last May. There is money to pay for a supplemental budget because state revenues have been higher than initially expected.
Senators voted 34-0 Thursday to send the measure back to the House for another vote before it can go to the governor.
