  • LEBANON – The Tigers boys tennis squad opened the 2013 season against Lebanon on Monday and fell by a narrow margin, 3-6.
    "We took one on the chin [Monday]," coach Paula Davis said. "Even though we did lose, I thought the boys made a good showing. They played hard and for some this was their first match."
    Waynesville finished 3-3 in singles play before dropping each of the team's three doubles games.
    Three of Waynesville's top-six competitors missed Monday's match due to a DECA trip.

    Coleman Beard (Leb) def. Chase Holden (Way), 8-5.
    Doubles:
    Boyer/Gillen (Leb) def. Sadler/Cressler (Way), 8-5.
    Anderson/Burk (Leb) def. Osborn/Roberts (Way), 8-5.
    Flanders/Beard (Leb) def.Parker/Holden (Way), 8-1.
    After a Tuesday match at Camdenton, Waynesville will host its first event of the season against Richland at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
