More than 40 people participated in a Family Fun walk on Saturday to raise money for St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Local St. Jude alumni patient Deanna “Scott” House coordinated the event to give back to the hospital that saved her life more than 30 years ago.

House was diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic leukemia in the 1970s at the age of six. Survival rates for the cancer were not high at the time, but St. Jude helped pull Deanna through.

“This is our way of giving back, House said. “St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is such a great place.  No child is turned away.”

The walk raised more than $2,500 for St. Jude.
