  • DIXON – A consistent Dixon baseball lineup produced runs early to gain momentum, and eventually a 5-4 win over Laquey on Monday.
    Led by Joe Hardwick's and Solomon Weider's two RBIs each, eight Bulldogs' hitters finished with a hit. Teammate Lane Withers rounded out the night with the team's fifth RBI.
    Pitchers Hunter McCoy and Weider threw for a combined 2 ER, 6 H, 8 K and 5 BB. Weider, on short rest, earned the win and McCoy the five-out save.
    "Although the final score was closer than we would have liked, at the end of the night, a win still counts," Dixon coach Alex Shelton said after the game. "I was especially pleased with our outfield as both Michael Fulbright and Andrew Meier made terrific catches at key times to really give our team a boost."
    Dixon will host Stoutland while Laquey next plays Iberia, both Thursday games with 5 p.m. start times.
