Corporal MontesCruz was born in San Jose, Costa Rica. He graduated from Lincoln International Academy, Managua, Nicaragua, and entered the United States Marine Corps in September 2011. He completed Supply Administration School at Camp Johnson, North Carolina in March 2012.
Corporal MontesCruz assignments included: Recruit Training, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. Marine Combat Training, School of Infantry West, Camp Pendleton, California. Military Occupational Specialty, Camp Johnson, North Carolina. Marine Corps Detachment, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Corporal MontesCruz military education includes: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, Supply Administration School, Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, Gray and Green Belt levels completed.
In his time with the Marine Detachment, Corporal MontesCruz has served as part of the Detachment’s Color Guard, as well as the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence (MSCOE) Joint Service Color Guard. He has also competed for Marine of the quarter, Joint Service Member of the quarter and Joint Service junior enlisted of the year boards. On his off duty time, Corporal MontesCruz volunteers with the Young Marines Association, as well as judged JROTC drill competitions with local high schools in our community.
Corporal MontesCruz awards and decorations include Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Certificate of Commendation and Letter of Appreciations.
