At the May 21 Waynesville High School Honors Program Twyla Cordry of Citizens Mortgage Company presented a scholarship to senior Nicole Ashley Marie Brewer. This scholarship was given in honor of 1948 WHS graduate Marvin Long.

The history behind the scholarship originated from last fall's homecoming football game where Citizens Mortgage Company sponsored the evenings game and also searched out for the oldest alumni in attendance at the game. Mr. Long was that alumni.

Following graduation Nicole plans to attend the University of Missouri and major in business.
While attending WHS, she has served as Student Body President in Student Government, member National Honor Society, freshman Mentor Program, Cheerleading, in charge of blood drives and Special Olympics and also helped organize last year's Homecoming Parade.

In addition to her educational involvement she currently works at Fro Yo Belly Frozen Yogurt in Waynesville. She is the daughter of Robert and Shannon Brewer.

Also, Citizens Mortgage Company plans to sponsor next year's homecoming game and will once again be recognizing the oldest alumni in attendance and awarding a scholarship to a 2014 senior.
