John Forsyth was named Waynesville High School's Teacher of the Year for 2012-13 during the Passing of the Torch Ceremony held on Friday, May 24.
Forsyth teaches freshman and sophomore language arts classes.
"Mr. Forsyth calls himself a carnivore of teaching methods," says Steve Ward, WHS language arts chair. "He's always on the lookout for something new. For instance, last year he brought in whole-brain teaching to the department and school. This is a way to quickly engage, evaluate and teach all at the same time."
Fellow WHS faculty selected Forsyth for the award. "Other than your parents, no one cares more about your success than your teachers," Forsyth said while accepting the award.
