Fort Leonard Wood’s Sverdrup chapter of the Army Engineer Association will combine its next monthly Engineer Roundup with the Corps of Engineers Annual Sapper Muster on Monday 24th June, 4p.m-6p.m.
“The Chapter hosts these gatherings for all military and civilian engineers in the Fort Leonard Wood area to come together and share a bit of our history, our camaraderie and hear speakers on topics of general interest to the Sapper community,” said Chapter President, Brian Black.
“We encourage all engineers past and present to come along and help foster our spirit de corps,” said Mr Black.
The Roundup will be held in the Engineer Regimental Room within the John B. Mahaffey Museum Complex on the post. Besides socializing over pizza and beers, the Roundup also features a special presentation on various Engineer museum items, which often delves into the ‘behind-the-scenes’ history of the exhibit pieces.
The June Roundup will run in conjunction with the Annual Engineer Muster. The muster is a chance for all Army Engineers to be recorded in a ledger and receive their official muster card. Guest speaker for the Roundup will be Brigadier-General Peter DeLuca, Commandant of the US Army Engineer School.
“The Roundup is run by Sappers, for Sappers and keeps us in touch with our collective heritage, as well as giving us some insights into issues facing the military engineering community,” said Brian Black. “We welcome new attendees to the Roundup, and look forward to seeing our attendance grow.”
