Nothing less than success! You may have heard me use this statement in some speeches recently. It’s not a political statement. It’s a statement that I have lived by my entire life, in my business, community service and even in my churches. It’s an attitude and determination to not give up or give in, but to find a way to move forward and do something good. I take that same attitude with me to the Capitol. Like anything worthwhile it may take some time, a lot of energy, patience, and some thinking outside the box, but I am determined to have a positive impact on our district and state.
Reflecting on my first session we did some good things, but there is much more to do. I believe we can do better. In fact I wouldn’t settle for anything less than success in making Missouri a better place for all of us! When it comes to our rights I take them very seriously. Here are some of the bills we passed to protect them.
Right to Privacy
SB252- This act enacts several provisions pertaining to the operations of the Department of Revenue. It will stop the Missouri Department of Revenue from scanning, retaining, and sharing the personal info of Missouri citizens. The DOR will also be required to dispose of the scans of personal docs they have made in the past few months.
SB 75- Removes the Missouri Department of Revenue from the process of issuing concealed carry weapon permits and instead allows county sheriffs to do so.
2nd Amendment Rights
HB436- Establishes the Second Amendment Preservation Act which rejects all federal acts that infringe on a Missouri citizens' rights under the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution
HB533- Allows state employees to possess firearms in their vehicles on state property.
Right to Life
HB400- Establishes requirements for the administration of RU-486 or any other abortion-inducing drug or chemical without a doctor present. This is a step in the right direction to eliminate webcam abortions.
Right to Farm
HJR 11&7- Proposes a constitutional amendment affirming the right of farmers and ranchers to engage in modern farming and ranching practices
