WAYNESVILLE – Lady Tigers coach Holly Davidson wasn't afraid to physically demonstrate proper technique during Wednesday's volleyball camp held at Waynesville Middle School.
Davidson tutored nearly 30 student-athletes, showing them exactly how to execute an attack, during Day 3 of a five-day volleyball camp, scheduled to end Friday.
"Rather than always giving verbal description of a skill, we try to model what skill we are working on to appeal to the visual learners," Davidson said.
After warming up, the coach addressed participants before they were divided into two courts and worked to perfect wrist-snapping attack techniques, among other drills.
"We provide camps for girls from first grade to seniors in high school," Davidson said. "This helps girls understand the game of volleyball a little better from a young age."
To cap the afternoon, 2013 Lady Tigers scrimmaged while utilizing lessons learned throughout Wednesday's two-and-a-half hour session.
After each scored point, prospective varsity starters celebrated similarly to they way will in the regular season.
"We have been playing in a traveling volleyball league with other area schools, continue to have open gyms and participate in [camps]," Davidson said. "I truly enjoy seeing our athletes improving."
Looking forward to the fall, Davidson said the "season will be here before we know it."
