WAYNESVILLE – Organized practices seemed a long way off at the end of the 2012 Tigers soccer season.
Even after a long layoff, however, Waynesville High student-athletes participated in several summer open field sessions before joining the school's annual five-day soccer team camp.
More than 30 individuals participated in Thursday's session, including 2013 returners.
Other former Tigers, including Lajos Zadravecz, also helped head coach Mike Armstrong and assistant coach Eric Thornburg mentor the upcoming Tigers soccer players.
Coaches conducted conditioning drills before splitting campers into two teams for an extended scrimmage.
Camp is scheduled to conclude Friday, but the fall season is approaching.
Team tryouts are scheduled for the week of August 12 though 16. Practices will begin the following week.
Waynesville is scheduled to host Sullivan in the team's season opener August 30 at 5 p.m.
