A Lebanon teenager died Wednesday evening in a car crash with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 44 in Pulaski County.
Thirteen-year-old Darion Beckley was pronounced dead at 6:43 p.m. at the scene of the crash which took place 2.5 miles west of Waynesville around 6:08 p.m.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the teenager was riding in a 2001 Honda Civic driven by Jason E. Beckley, 33, of Waynesville, along with another passenger, 10-year-old Taylor M. Beckley, of Lebanon.
The patrol stated that the Honda approached a slower-moving 2007 International tractor-trailer driven by Duane Harris, 53, of Sebring, Fla., , which were both traveling eastbound on I-44, when the Honda changed lanes and struck the trailer.
The Honda skidded across the interstate and traveled into the median.
The tractor-trailer came to a controlled stop in the driving lane.
All involved were wearing seat belts.
Darion Beckley was taken to Waynesville Memorial Funeral Home and Jason and Taylor Beckley were both flown to University Hospital in Columbia for serious and moderate injuries, respectively.
This is the 14th traffic fatality in the patrol's Troop I area, which covers Pulaski, Phelps, Maries, Laclede, Crawford and Dent counties.
The patrol's Troop D crash team assisted Troop I officers with the investigation.
