Jim Phillips, board member of the Laclede Electric Trust, presented a check for $10,000 to Connie Chambers, executive director of the Good Samaritan Resource Center. This donation is designated to assist with flood relief from the recent disaster flooding in Waynesville.
Gary Porter, co-chair of the Pulaski County Salvation Army, also received a check for local flood relief, in the amount of $5,000 from the Laclede Electric Trust.
The money is made possible by Laclede Electric customers who choose to "round up" their monthly bills to the next higher dollar. For most customers this only means a few extra cents added to their bill each month. The maximum amount would be no more than 99 cents. This program has provided over $2 million in assistance, since its inception in 1997, to residents and organizations served by Laclede Electric.
The goal of the Trust is to provide assistance in meeting basic needs of applicants in temporary hardship situations. The Trust also awards 8 scholarships, annually, to high school seniors in the Laclede service area. Photos submitted
