Pulaski County Community Organizations Active in Disaster released an update on flood relief on Friday. In its update, the organization stressed that FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) has not yet made a decision on whether or not Pulaski County qualifies for assistance. “We need everyone to know that we are far from the finish line with regard to our recovery efforts,” Shaun and Pam Collins, COAD co-chairs said in the press release. “In the days or weeks to come, FEMA will make a determination as to how much, if any, assistance they will be able to provide. Once this decision is made, we will be able to begin the rebuilding phase.” In its press release, COAD said that if FEMA grants assistance to Pulaski County, they will be required to rebuild to a specified “flood proofing” standard; therefore, cannot begin any rebuilding efforts until the determination is made. “As soon as we are informed of the decision and requirements, we will need to lean heavily on our community to collect donated construction materials, collect cash donations and assist in the rebuilding effort with volunteers,” stated the press release. COAD also thanked everyone who has helped in relief effort. To volunteer, call (573) 337-2286.
