Jimmie Van Zant Band will be playing at the Dead Rabbit Saloon this Sunday.

Jimmie Van Zant, who is the cousin of late Lynard Skynard lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, recently released a southern rock album called "Feels Like Freedom."

Sunday's concert will be the first of a fall concert series held at the Dead Rabbit Saloon, according to owner Billy James Clayton.

Clayton, a musician himself, said that the Jimmie Van Zant Concert will be the first of many national acts playing in Pulaski County.

"We shouldn't have to drive to Springfield or St. Louis to see national acts, so I'm trying to bring them here," Clayton said.

The Jimmie Van Zant concert will be held at 4 p.m at the Dead Rabbit Saloon (25810 Highway W, Waynesville). Phat Mike and the Bartenders will be the opening act. Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. For more information, call (573) 765-4900.

Next up in the fall concert series will be The Lacs on Oct. 3 at 6 p.m.
