  • Declaring St. Robert's participation in the nation's annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" drunk driving crackdown a major success, St. Robert Police reported that more than four drunk driving arrests, two other significant arrests and 58 citations were made during the enforcement period, which ran from August 16 to September 2, 2013.
"I am proud of our officers for their hard work and dedication to making our region's roadways safer," said Chief of Police Curtis Curenton.
"Drunk driving is more than a reckless choice by a few individuals," he said. "Each year, drunk driving costs the lives of thousands on America's highways. In 2012, 230 people died in Missouri crashes involving impaired drivers. That worked out to approximately one impaired driving fatality every 1 ½ days."
During the 2012 Labor Day weekend in Missouri, three people were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes involving impaired drivers or motorcycle riders.
St. Robert Police joined forces with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and nearly 10,000 law enforcement agencies across the country in this year's "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign.
