  • At this month's Waynesville City Council meeting, local radio broadcaster Gary Khehans was honored for his 50 years of service to the community.
Khehans has been a radio broadcaster with KJPW since 1963.
In 2009, he won the Missouri State Teachers Association's top award for excellence tin radio reporting of educational issues and was inducted into the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He has been involved with the promotion of Fort Leonard Wood and interviewed almost every leading political figure on the local, regional, and state level.
“When I came to Waynesville, I weighed 125 lbs. As you can see, after 50 years, I have finally grown into the job,” Khehans joked as he received his award.
