  • DIXON – Add two more soccer shutouts to Laquey's total this season.

At the weekend's Frisco League Tournament held in Dixon, Laquey downed Richland, 4-0, then knocked off Dixon, 6-0, to push the team's shutout total to 10 on the season.

Against Richland in the first found, four different Hornets scored – Collin Snyder, Ryan West, Collin MacDonald and Josh Urban.

Later in the day, MacDonald scored four more goals and teammates Urban and Gordon Klemp rounded out Laquey's weekend of offense with a goal each.

“Special recognition must go to West, Klemp and Blake Briggs who, between them, controlled the tempo of the game and kept the ball off the feet of the dangerous Dixon strikers,” Laquey coach Michael Podurgal said after the tournament. “Ryan West in particular dazzeled the crowd with some beautiful ball handling.”

Podurgal also recognized goalkeeper Remington Hayes for his stellar performance in goal:

“Hayes really stepped up today with some outstanding stops in the championship game,” he said. “He recorded 10 saves, several of which were near spectacular.”

The two victories kept Laquey undefeated this season (13-0).

The Hornets are schedule to face off against Belle at home on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
