The Pulaski County Health Department said Tuesday that despite the partial government  shutdown that threatened several federally funded services, local Women Infants and Children (WIC) services will remain open.

Deborah Baker of the Pulaski County Health Department said that the department doesn't rely a lot on federal funds and there are enough funds from other sources to continue operating at this time.

WIC provides food and health education for babies, children under 5 years old and women who are pregnant or nursing, seeking to improve the health of low-to-moderate income families.
