Snack in a Pack event raises more than $4,500 for program
Adults across the community spent Saturday competing in a dodge ball tournament to benefit the Waynesville R-VI School District Snack in a Pack Program.
Twenty-six teams competed on Saturday at the 2nd Annual Adult Dodge Brawl Tournament, raising $4,445 for the hunger-fighting program.
"I had a blast refereeing the event and I was happy to be a part of such a good cause," says CPT. Lui Lefiti one of eight event referees.
Mid Mo Hit Squad won the actual tournament becoming the 2013 Adult Dodge Brawl Champions, keepers of the Dodge Brawl Traveling Trophy.Teams came dressed up, but overall The Masked Brawlers won in the Best Dressed Team Competition.
When asked who's your rival, Mid Mo Hit Squad Team Captain, Gary French, responded, "Child hunger.
AmeriCorps VISTA members organized the Adult Dodge Brawl Tournament and maintain the Snack in a Pack program. This year they had over thirty volunteers that helped ensure the event ran smoothly.
Teams came dressed up, but overall The Masked Brawlers won in the Best Dressed Team Competition.
"I think the ladies [organizing the event] did an excellent job. Everything was well organized and they were able to raise a lot of money," noted Anitra Rivera, an AmeriCorps volunteer.
Mrs. Rivera continued, "The photo booth and DJ Steve made the event look professionally planned. It was a nice touch."
DJ Steve of Iberia DJ Services, Wannabooth, and Lea Poole Photography were there to provide their professional services for free to those attending the event.
Event sponsors included AUSA, Splash Design, McDonald's of Waynesville, Lamb's Donuts, Wish For Our Heroes, Sellers-Sexton and Mid Missouri Motors.
