The Waynesville High School wrestling team officially opened its schedule by sending its junior varsity team on the road to meet, and defeat, the St. James varsity squad 62-10 on Monday, Nov. 25.
The highlight for the Tiger jayvee squad senior Zachary Martinez defeated St. James state-placer Daniel McCarthy in a 9-8 decision that came down to the final seconds of the match.
In a battle of state powers of last season, Waynesville will take on Ozark in its first home dual meet of the year in varsity/jayvee action on Thursday, Dec. 5, starting at 6 p.m. at the WHS gym. Last season Waynesville finished sixth and Ozark eighth in the Missouri Class 4 State Tournament.
