  • The Dixon Chamber of Commerce hosted its 29th Annual Miss Merry Christmas Pageant Saturday, Nov. 26.
    The event kicked off that morning with private interviews with our judges, Cassie Goosey, Kara Gordon and Morgan Baumhoer. The interviews accounted for 60 percent of the contestants' overall score.
    The evening portion of the pageant took place, starting off with the national anthem sang by Skylar Maddox. The 50 contestants, escorts and reigning 2012 queens, Madison Euler, Lydia Withers and Cheyenne Keck starred in an upbeat opening number "Hooray for Hollywood!" Rhonda Maddox, representing the Dixon Chamber of Commerce, introduced the emcees for the night, Lacey Rollins and Cheyenne Keck.
    The evening wear competition, accounting for 40% of the contestants' scores, took place. Escorting the Little Miss contestants was Caden King, son of Mandy and the late Roy King. Alexander Keck, son of Aaron and Alison Keck, served as escort of the Junior Miss division. Justin Thompson, son of Rob and Rhonda Maddox, escorted the Miss contestants.
    The crowd enjoyed entertainment provided by Jenna Bilyeu-Baker.
    During the ceremony, each Little Miss contestant received a Barbie doll donated by Michelle Johnson with Dreamhouse Dolls.
    Each category's contestants got to vote for the contestant in their division that they felt was the friendliest for the Congeniality Award.
    Little Miss Congeniality, for the second year in a row, went to Heidi Akery, daughter of Heath and Kristy Akery. Junior Miss Congeniality went to Sophia Bianco, daughter of Terri Bianco and Daryl Bianco. Miss Congeniality was Abi Williford, daughter of Bobby and Dianne Williford. Heidi won a teddy bear provided by the Chamber. Sophia and Abi won gift certificates provided by Niki Kelsay at Splitends Salon and Tanning.
    The judges voted that morning on the contestant in each category that they felt were the most photogenic, based on the photographs taken by Jeannie Elseman at Jeannie's Portrait Design, LLC.
    The winner in each category received free framing of their photograph by Greg and Pam George with By George Framing. By George Framing also donated mattes for each of the photos. Little Miss Photogenic went to Elesa Gore, daughter of Caitlin Gore and Anthony Albrecht. Junior Miss Photogenic was Lora Haist, daughter of Ian and Lori Chenetz. Miss Photogenic went to Brinna Rollins, daughter of Travis Rollins and Bridget Robertson.
    The pageant committee also voted on the person in each category that they felt demonstrated the best sportsmanship, showed positive behavior and were a joy to be around throughout the pageant process. The Committee Choice Award went to Elesa Gore in the Little Miss. It was awarded to Alura Bench, daughter of Jeff and Teri Crane and Brad Bench, in the Junior Miss division and to Emily Robertson, daughter of Tina Robertson, in the Miss division.
    Page 2 of 2 - In the Little Miss division, 4th runner up was Heidi Akery sponsored by the Bank of Crocker. 3rd runner up was Grace Young, daughter of Jeromy and Dianna Young, sponsored by her parents and Sellers Sexton. 2nd runner up was Bailee Rice, daughter of John and Katie Rice, sponsored by her Aunt Nini (Niki Kelsay at Splitends Salon and Tanning. 1st runner up was Kinsley Lipscomb, daughter of Shawn and Tammy Lipscomb, sponsored by her Aunt Mindy. Cherish Faircloth, daughter of Alicia Faircloth and Ty Cline, sponsored by Renee's Hair Studio and her uncles, Chris and J.D., was crowned Little Miss Merry Christmas 2013.
    In the Junior Miss division, 4th runner up was Isabel Phillips, daughter of Mike and Tricia Phillips, sponsored by Debbie Foster. 3rd runner up was Tayler McKinnon, daughter of Tim and Joni McKinnon, sponsored by K&M Service Center. 2nd runner up was Kaitlyn Ray, daughter of Clarence and Tracy Ray, sponsored by her parents. 1st runner up was Lora Haist, sponsored by Plank Road Primitives. Audrey Eckert, daughter of Jason and Darlene Eckert, sponsored by Ark Flooring, Inc. was crowned Junior Miss Merry Christmas 2013.
    In the Miss division, 4th runner up was Brinna Rollins, sponsored by Rollins Construction Services, LLC. 3rd runner up was Jordyn Vrba, daughter of Don and Tina Vrba, sponsored by the Community Bank of Dixon. 2nd runner up was Heaven Wells, daughter of Shara Fronzaglio, sponsored by Tonya Solan. 1st runner up was Myridian Benefield, daughter of Shane and Missy Goforth and the late Steve Huffman, sponsored by the Rolla Fire Dept. in honor of Steve Huffman. Kristen McMillian, daughter of Jeff and Tanya McMillian, sponsored by Dixon Family Practice, was crowned Miss Merry Christmas 2013.
