December 19, 1941

FDR establishes Office of Censorship

On December 19, 1941, Fresident Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 8985 which established the Oiffice of Censorship. A war measure, The Office of Censorship had absolute discretion on censoring international communications until August 15, 1945.
