  • A man from the Dixon area allegedly made threats Monday morning to rob a bank, according to Dixon City Marshal Mike Plummer.
"We received word this morning from a third party that a man said he was considering robbing a bank," Plummer said. "Our banks are on lockdown. It's just as a precautionary measure. Average people don't say things like that, so we just want to locate this individual and check on what he said."
Plummer said officials know who the man in question was who made the threats, and the entire county is "on alert."
"This is a county-wide investigation," he said. "This is not only Dixon, but the St. Robert and Waynesville area, too. The individual's car was last seen in that area."
Plummer said due to some "suspicious activity involving banks in the area," law enforcement agencies throughout the county are on the lookout and thoroughly investigating the threat, even though the information came from a third party.
The two Dixon banks that went on lockdown are Mid-America Bank and Community Bank of Dixon.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
