Do you use public transit? Have you ever considered biking to work?
Do you fly an airplane or ship goods via freight train? Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) is seeking input from area residents interested in multi-modal transportation—that is any form of transportation in addition to roads and bridges—at a public forum scheduled for March 11.
The forum is planned from 4-7 p.m. at the Phelps County Courthouse in Rolla, and all residents of the region are invited and encouraged to participate.
Information gathered at the public forum will be incorporated into a multi-modal transportation planning process currently underway by the Meramec Region Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC). The information will also become part of the Meramec Region Regional Transportation Plan (RTP).
The planning project aims to identify and prioritize a list of multi-modal transportation projects—rail, airport, waterways, public transit and bicycle and pedestrian projects—throughout the region.
For many years, the TAC has prioritized state road and bridge projects. That prioritization is shared with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and top projects are considered for inclusion in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and included in MRPC’s Regional Transportation Plan (RTP).
Persons needing more information on MRPC’s Transportation Advisory Committee or the March 11 public forum may contact Lyle Thomas at MRPC at (573) 265-2993 or by email at
