  • FORT LEONARD WOOD — In match originally scheduled for March 27, the Waynesville Tigers golf team played a triangular match against Jefferson City and Belle at Piney Valley golf course on Fort Leonard Wood.
The Tigers finished in second place with a score of 214 while the Jefferson City Jays took the top spot with a 173. Belle wound up in third with a score of 233.
Waynesville was led by junior Wade Howser who shot a 42 on his way to his second consecutive team medalist honor.
The low score of the match was Gabe Trowbridge of Jefferson City who had a 37.
Waynesville coach Rube Dowell said he was pleased with the progress his varsity squad is showing.
“The varsity cut 21 strokes off of its last match,” Dowell said.
Of course, part of that is due to getting junior Jacob Morriss back from an illness, Dowell said. Morriss had a strong day with 50 strokes.
Other scores were freshman Fred Boone 61, Austin Adams 68 and James Richardson 61.
The junior varsity match was just between Jefferson City and Waynesville as Belle does not have a JV team.
The Jays won that matchup as well with a score of 221 to 254.
“They have also made very positive progress as they cut 12 strokes off of their last match score,” Dowell said.
Evan McWilliams led the JV Tigers with a personal best score of 62.
Isaac Brooks had a 63, Dylan Reynolds shot a 64, John Pack 65 and Kevin Barrett 69.
